Corinne Russell, Associate Corinne Russell has served as an award-winning television news reporter, the chief public affairs executive for a national trade association, a senior media strategist at a nationally recognized public relations firm, and a congressional press secretary. She is an experienced public relations and public affairs professional with a proven track-record in communication strategy, media training, media placement, alliance building, consumer education, and project management. With extensive experience in both public relations and television journalism, Corinne is an expert at helping individuals and organizations both fine-tune their messages and get their messages out to the media in an effective manner. Her efforts have resulted in improved image and media coverage for a variety of organizations and causes in environment, health care, education, and other issue areas. Recent clients include the American Humane Association and the National Capital Business Ethics Awards. Before launching her work as an independent consultant, Corinne was Vice President and Director of Public Affairs at the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA), where she rebuilt and reinvigorated an outdated media relations and advocacy program. Prior to joining CHPA, Corinne was a Vice President at The Widmeyer-Baker Group, (now Widmeyer Communications) a public relations firm based in Washington, DC. At Widmeyer, she was one of the firm's senior media relations strategists and lead media trainer. Corinne went to Widmeyer directly from Capitol Hill, where she had worked as press secretary to Congressman Bart Gordon (D-Tenn.). Throughout her career, Russell has continued to work extensively in television news. She was an on-air reporter and anchor at WTVF-TV in Nashville, Tennessee and has also worked for television stations in Florida, Indiana and Washington, D.C. Currently, Corinne does freelance reporting assignments for WRC-TV/NBC 4 in Washington. Additionally, she is the recipient of several distinct honors, including Emmy Awards for investigative series, non-spot news and spot news from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Nashville Chapter, and a William Benton Fellowship in Broadcast Journalism, University of Chicago. Corinne has a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications (Broadcast Journalism) and Business from Indiana University and has done graduate study at the University of Chicago. A member of the American Society of Association Executives and the Public Relations Society of America, Corinne has also volunteered as a mentor and tutor of inner city students in Washington, DC. |
